What Is a Floor Plan Template?
A floor plan template is a finished layout you start from instead of a blank page: the walls, rooms and furniture are already placed at believable sizes, and you change what does not fit. Most people searching for one want two things — a layout that already works, and a floor plan with dimensions they can measure against their own space.
Here a template is also a brief. Each one comes with the exact description that drew it, so loading it fills in the plan type, floor area, style and notes. Edit a sentence ("add a home office", "make the garage deeper") and generate a new version — the result is an AI planning image you can download as a PNG, not a CAD file.
- Houses, townhouses, apartments, studios and single rooms
- Offices, cafés, restaurants and classrooms
- Sizes in square feet and square meters
- Technical, colored, furnished, 2.5D, 3D and blueprint styles

Load and edit the brief
Click "Use this template". The plan type, floor area, style and notes fill in; change the rooms, sizes or style you want to be different.
Generate your version
Generate the plan (10 credits; new accounts get free credits), compare it with the template, and download the PNG or try another variation.
Floor Plan Examples with Dimensions You Can Build On

Real sizes, not just shapes
Templates list the footprint and floor area, and the briefs name room sizes ("primary bedroom 14 x 14"). Ask for dimensions and room labels and the new plan draws them in feet or meters.
Square footage calculator
Same layout, any drawing style
Keep the brief and switch the style: a technical 2D plan for measuring, a colored plan for a listing, a 3D view to show family, or a blueprint for the look of a construction set.

Floor Plan Templates FAQ
Browsing, previewing and loading a template is free. Generating your own version uses 10 credits, and new accounts get free credits to start.
Each template lists its floor area and, where it has one, the overall footprint, and most briefs name room sizes. When you generate, ask for "room sizes and overall dimensions" to get a floor plan with dimensions drawn on it. Dimensions are approximate — measure before you buy or build anything.
Yes, by editing its brief. "Use this template" loads the description into the notes box; change rooms, sizes or the style and generate a new plan. There is no drag-and-drop wall editor, but you can upload the result to the AI floor plan editor and change marked areas with a sentence.
Generated plans download as PNG images. They are planning images, not CAD or DWG files, so they cannot be opened as editable drawings in architecture software.
No. A template or a generated plan is a concept for planning and discussion. Permit drawings must be measured and prepared by a designer, architect or engineer who follows your local code.
Yes — the Commercial filter has an open office for 16, a coffee shop, a 60-seat restaurant and a classroom for 24. For other spaces, choose the closest plan type in the generator and describe the room.
Start from your target floor area and bedroom count, then compare footprints with your lot or room. The square footage calculator and the room size guides help you check whether a template will fit.
